The Manitoba Fibre Festival is a unique annual gathering connecting local fibre farmers with the crafting community in a relaxed creative atmosphere.

ADMISSION:

This year we are implementing a flexible admission fee from $5.00 - $20.00, including full access to all the demonstrations, animals, and vendors for both days of the Festival.

The Manitoba Fibre Festival is a not-for-profit, volunteer run organization passionate about community building, experiential learning, and promoting the work of fibre growers, designers, artisans, and fibre specialists. It is important to us to keep the Festival as accessible as possible.

We welcome everyone, and we gratefully acknowledge anyone who might wish to support the present and future success of the Festival by paying extra. Thank you all!

As always, volunteers, workshop participants, and people 15 years and under get in for free.

The St. Boniface Summer Market unfolds every Thursday night, spanning from the beginning of June to the end of August, between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM at Joseph Royal Park. In our last season, we welcomed over 50 different vendors, each providing beautifully handmade products.

Join Christel in this two-part workshop, where participants will learn to turn raw fish skins into a working textile using black tea and pickerel fish skins from Lake Winnipeg. There will be some homework sent home as the fish skins need to be monitored between the 2 workshops. In the second part, participants will learn how to soften their leather and sew it into a small card holder that can be brought home. Christel will speak about some historical context of fish skin tanning, have shared discussion on how to tan and be in good relationship with land and environment as well as using leather as a regenerative textile.

MARKETPLACE

Our world-class Marketplace will feature indie yarn dyers, local yarn stores, fibre farmers, knitwear designers, notions makers and more. 

The Marketplace will be open to the public Saturday May 20 from 9am-5pm and Sunday May 21 from 9am-4pm. 

The Day Pass (good for either Saturday or Sunday) will be $15, and a Weekend Pass will be $25. Children 12 and under are free to attend with an adult. All Marketplace tickets are non-refundable but can be transferred. Please see our FAQ’s for more details (coming soon).

Marketplace tickets can be purchased online beginning February 22nd at 4pm PST/7pm EST. All tickets must be purchased in advance, no door sales will be available.

WORKSHOPS

Notre marché de classe mondiale présentera des teinturiers indépendants, des magasins de laine locaux, des producteurs de fibres, des créateurs de tricots, des fabricants d'articles de mercerie et bien plus encore.

Le marché sera ouvert au public le samedi 20 mai de 9h00 à 17h00 et le dimanche 21 mai de 9h00 à 16h00.

Le laissez-passer d'une journée (valable pour le samedi ou le dimanche) coûtera 15 dollars, et le laissez-passer du week-end 25 dollars. Les enfants de 12 ans et moins peuvent assister gratuitement à l'événement s'ils sont accompagnés d'un adulte. Tous les billets pour le marché ne sont pas remboursables mais peuvent être transférés. Celebrate Manitoba Fibre Festival by spending the day with instructor Hanna Brandt (#holyhannaart) working with leather and making yourself a pair of warm and durable moose-hide moccasins lined with local sheepskin (sheepskins are from Green Pastures Farm) These cozy slippers will be a perfect fit and last you a very long time.

$120 per person, includes all materials and instruction.

Our Farm is a stop on the Manitoba Fibre Trail this coming fall! 

Manitoba Fibre Trail, a physically distanced and socially connected version of the 2020 Manitoba Fibre Festival.

Planning your visit:

All activities at the farm will be held outdoors and some under covered open air shelters.

PLEASE DRESS FOR THE WEATHER and BRING WATER AND SNACKS.

Accessibility:

-Most of the ground on the farm is flat and either grass or gravel. Some accessible parking available

-We have a port-a-potty available for use, unfortunately not wheelchair accessible at this time.

Food and Drink:

-Plan to bring your own water and lunch. Bring a blanket and have a picnic in the field! We will have limited small pre-packaged snacks and some drinks as well as limited water bottles for purchase.

-Fresh local pizzas can be purchased from our neighbor Ste. G’s General Store (Call ahead for pick-up!) They are delicious. Menu can be found here and here

Farm Bio-Security:

-Please ensure you do not wear (or sanitize and wash) footwear worn on your own, or other farms for our animals protection as well as yours.

-Rubber boots or shoes that can be soiled (we are a farm with muck and poop after all ) are recommended.

Covid-19:

-There is lots of room for physical distancing while having fun on the farm. We will have a sign in sheet upon arrival for contact tracing.

-Please ensure at least a llama, or one sheep and a bit (2m) of distance from those outside your bubble.

-Mask wearing strongly is recommended and hand sanitizer as well as a hand washing station will be available on site.

We will adhere to Provincial Government guidelines for Covid-19
